Welcome to our 1 October 2024 AN-ACC rates article!

For all other new rates of payment from 1 July 2023 or for any Aged Care Subsidies and Supplements, you can visit the Department of Health and Aged Care website here.

Late in September 2024, significant change was announced for the AN-ACC Variable and Fixed Funding components and Care Minutes (not covered in this article).

At a high-level:

  1. The AN-ACC Starting Price increased from $253.82 to $280.01.
  2. A shake-up of the NWAUs associated with the Respite and Permanent AN-ACC Classifications.
  3. Changes to the MMM/Base Care Tariff structure and funding.
  4. Changes to Care Minute Allocations effective from the October 1 performance period.
  5. An overall reduction of the RN Supplement with a change to the eligibility criteria.

Let’s dive into the AN-ACC Rates from October 1, 2024!

AN-ACC Starting Price (AN-ACC National Efficient Price)
Initial Entry Adjustment
Residential Aged Care Subsidy: Variable Component (Previous Value in Brackets)
Residential Aged Care Subsidy: Base Care Tariff Fixed Component (Permanent & Respite)

AN-ACC Fixed & Variable Funding Totals

So how does all this funding come together? Well, it will depend on whether your Facility’s Base Care Tariff (BCT) is funded on an “Occupied” or “Operational” Beds basis.

For Facilities with a BCT funded on an “Occupied Beds” basis, the table below will tell you how much Fixed and Variable funding you will receive each day per occupied bed!

For Facilities with a BCT funded on an “Operational Beds” basis,  the calculation is a little more complex! This is because the fixed funding is calculated independently of the Facility’s occupancy. Therefore, the fixed and variable funding per occupied and/or operational bed can change each day. Accordingly, we have not included a “Total Funding” table for these kinds of Facilities. If your Facility has an “Operational Beds” BCT and you’d like some assistance with the calculations, please reach out!

What do all these changes mean for you?

For many Providers, we’re seeing a boost to overall funding and a less-than-anticipated increase to overall Care Minute Targets.

To help Providers quickly get across these changes, or just to validate the work you’ve already done, we’re offering a complimentary report for you detailing the impact on your organisation.
