THE ACPP HOW TO SERIES: CLAIMING A CARE RECIPIENT’S DETAILS IN THE AGED CARE PROVIDER PORTAL

Friday the 20th of November 2020 is the day the Aged Care Sector must transition from Aged Care Online Claiming (ACOC) to the Aged Care Provider Portal (ACPP).

For many – the change will be big; and comes at a time when there is already a lot of change, and talk about change in the sector.

 
Whilst we are loving the Aged Care Provider Portal (ACPP) and finding it so much easier to use than the Aged Care Online Claiming (ACOC) portal, one of the biggest challenges faced in the ACPP is searching for a Care Recipient. The reason searching is now more challenging in the ACPP, is that unlike the ACOC, where you just needed a Care Recipient ID, in the ACPP you need either:

  • Care Recipient ID + surname + date of birth OR
  • Surname + given name + date of birth + gender

With data security – generally comes processes that are a little more tricky! The many factors of identification have been introduced for security purposes (and we respect Services Australia for increasing security – this is a great move!) Services Australia told us that this ensured you either had access to the Care Recipient’s details – for instance, via an admissions form or a Resident Management System or had the Care Recipient sitting with you.

But sometimes you just want to find the Care Recipient’s details quickly!

Aaron Tabone is the Chief Information Officer of Provider Assist.
